Conversely, if you have the same 3.4 GPA, but the average for the entering class is 3.7+, as in some medical schools, then you have a low GPA. Admissions are about much more than GPA. You can 't focus exclusively on one number. So while a GPA is certainly very important, it's not the end-all and be-all of admissions.
