Pedestrian knocked down and killed in Free State crash

A pedestrian was knocked down and killed by a vehicle on the R26 in Bethlehem on Friday night, according to Free State paramedics.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found lifeless in the middle of the road, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Paramedics began CPR but were unable to revive him.

Meiring said the driver of the light motor vehicle was not injured.

The cause of the accident was being investigated.
